My Home, My Pride, a compelling dual exhibition that explores individuals’ profound and personal rela tionships with the places they call home. Featuring visual artists and old school friends Wesely Bwambale and Ronald Mugabe, this showcase presents vivid narratives drawn from rural and urban Ugandan commu nities.

Ronald Mugabe

Ronald Mugabe is a 33-year-old compelling Ugandan visual artist living and working in Kampala. He is celebrated for his bold and expressive f igurative portraits, primarily using acrylic on canvas. Born in Fort Portal, Uganda, Mugabe’s childhood was marked by significant challenges. After the passing of his mother and siblings, he spent years living on the streets of Kampala. In 2001, a local Ugandan organization began caring for him and other boys in similar circumstances.

This period of support allowed him to pursue his love for art, which he had cultivated since childhood through sketching. He earned a certificate in art (2014) and a diploma in fine art and textile design (2016) from Michelangelo College of Creative Arts in Kisubi, Uganda. Mugabe’s art is deeply influenced by his journey, exploring themes of hope, triumph, and freedom. His works often address social issues and questions of justice.

Wesley Bwambale

Born in 1994 in the rift valley border town of Kasese, Wesely Bwambale developed an early love for drawing, inspired by his surroundings and the influential women in his life. He honed his craft at Michelangelo College of Creative Arts in Entebbe, deepening his skills in drawing, colour, and oil painting.

Bwambale’s work is instantly recognizable for its vivid facial detail, smooth brushwork, and evocative expressions. His oil on canvas portraits often center on themes of memory, identity, beauty, and the quiet resilience of everyday life. Grounded in his Ugandan roots, his compositions beautifully aesthetics balance traditional with contemporary influences, resulting in images that are both intimate and universal.
